Break Into the Porn Industry: A Guide for New Male Performers
Entering the adult entertainment industry as a straight male performer can be an intriguing career choice, and one I’m sure many of you have considered at some point, usually right before you grab the Klennex, with your trousers around your ankles.
The porn business is not without its challenges and considerations, and as someone who often receives emails, DM’s and questions about this topic, I’d like to share some insights on how new male performers with no experience can navigate this industry.
First and foremost, it’s crucial to approach this decision with the awareness that adult entertainment is a legitimate business. Just like any other industry, it requires professionalism, dedication, and a strong work ethic to succeed. The “honeymoon period” of excitement and performing with popular porn models will fade quickly, so treating it as a serious venture from the outset is essential.
One of the most vital aspects of a male performer’s journey is to understand their role and responsibilities. Respect for female performers is paramount, if you’re in anyway misogynistic, pushy, looking for a girlfriend or coming into the business with the mind set of ‘rescuing’ the female performers, then stop right now, enjoy your wank and move on! The business and the female performers will chew you up and spit you out within your first week.
In most part you need to remember that male performers are there to complement and support their female counterparts, making them look good on screen. Ripped torso’s, and rugged good looks mean nothing in this business if your an arrogant prick. We would all prefer a ‘dad bod’, average guy, who is fun to have on set and can deliver a performance.
Treating all your colleagues with respect is key to fostering a good reputation. It’s a collaborative effort but you will need to ensure that you can deliver what you promise. Don’t tell us you can keep hard all day and deliver five ‘pop shots’ if you’re a one pump wonder! Just be honest with everyone, you’ll find there will still be a place for you if your honest about your limitations.
If your intending on hiding your identity, then your opportunities are limited. The adult entertainment industry is stigmatised by everyone, you’ll be judged, talked about and outed by friends, even your close loved ones may not be supportive of your decision. Therefore, before entering the industry, it’s crucial to have open and honest conversations with the people that matter to you, about the decision and the potential consequences this career choice can have on your family and your own future career opportunities.
Finally, building a brand and reputation is essential for success in this industry. Networking, marketing, and maintaining professionalism are all crucial aspects of a performer’s career. Understanding the business side of adult entertainment and making wise decisions on your niche area of performance, distribution platforms and the costs involved in becoming a performer, is equally important for long-term success.
If you’re still reading this and I’ve not scared you off, its time to get yourself ‘tested’. Before contacting anyone in the business, you will need to get yourself a full ‘clean’ sexual health certificate. Not all local clinics offer this service but organisations like SNAP have a list of clinics that can help. You will need a clean ‘cert’ every 28 days (every 14 days for certain production companies and countries) and some performers wont consider working with you until you have at least three months consecutive clean tests.

Augmented Reality: A Sensual Revolution in the Adult Entertainment Industry
In the not-so-distant past, holograms were the stuff of science fiction, something we only saw in movies like Star Wars or Minority Report. But today, thanks to advancements in augmented reality (AR) technology, we are on the brink of turning our homes into holographic wonderlands.
Imagine walking into your living room and suddenly seeing a lifelike 3D representation of your favorite musician performing their greatest hits right there in your own home. Or for the more smutty minded ones amongst us. Picture your favourite porn model, giving you a personal lap dance then performing her ‘special skills’, just for you and all from the comfort of your own personal space. This is the promise of AR, and it’s becoming increasingly accessible.
What is Augmented Reality?
Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology usually used in a VR headset, that superimposes digital content onto the physical world, allowing users to interact with computer-generated elements while still perceiving their surroundings. Unlike Virtual Reality (VR), which immerses users in a completely virtual environment, AR enhances the real world by adding virtual objects, information, or experiences.
The Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 are primarily VR headsets, but they do have a passthrough function that allows them to simulate AR-like experiences by using their front-facing cameras to display the real world.
The Oculus Quest 2 features four black-and-white cameras on the front of the headset. These cameras capture the real-world environment in greyscale. Whilst many of us have been testing and trying AR porn with the quest 2, the results have been less than ‘usable’, if you know what I mean ;)!
With the launch of the new Meta Quest 3 we now have access to the full-colour front-facing cameras. This upgrade from greyscale to full-colour cameras is a massive leap and provides several benefits:
- Realism: The full-colour cameras offer a more natural and realistic representation of your surroundings, as you can perceive colours, textures, and details.
- Enhanced AR: With full-colour cameras, the passthrough function on the Meta Quest 3 can provide a more convincing AR experience by accurately overlaying digital content in their true colours onto the real world.
- Improved Immersion: The increased realism of the passthrough view can make transitions between VR and the real world feel smoother and more natural.
In the future we’re hoping that this increased interactivity will provide a more engaging experience and opens up the opportunities for more personalization and customization. Users will be able to select their preferred models, scenes, and scenarios, tailoring the content to their desires.
From the emails I have received from customers, I’m aware of how the virtual reality content we make at Peeping Thom has already made porn accessible to a wider audience, including individuals with disabilities. With the new technologies we can now provide features like subtitles or audio descriptions to ensure inclusivity.

Peeping Thom May VR Releases
I’m back with another review of Peeping Thom May VR releases, and we have some VERY exciting ones this month including a couple of new performers and some old friends back for another shoot.
As some of the avid viewers might have noticed we’re now shooting the majority of our content in the same location. Peeping Thom’s 2nd Birthday
As the virtual reality industry continues to grow and thrive, VR porn is still paving the way for innovative content and adult storytelling experiences. This week marks Peeping Thom’s second anniversary, and we have much to celebrate.
In just two short years, the Peeping Thom brand has produced over 250, adult VR clips and worked with more than 75 performers. Our productions have pushed the boundaries of what was being made in adult virtual reality at the start. From immersive lap dancing clubs to the FuckTruck brand where we took the whole studio, packet it into a VW camper van, and took it on the road.
I’ve been lucky enough to build a team around me, including industry colleagues and friends who are all passionate about VR content and helped me bring to life some incredible virtual experiences. From heart-pumping gangbang parties to intimate solo and duo scenes, their performances and hard work has pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the medium, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
One of our most notable projects was the xxx parody films we attempted. As a nod to the large American studios of the past, I thought I’d try and push my own skill levels, and as painful as it was at some points, I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed it. The project ultimately didn’t turn out how I had hoped but its planted a seed for forthcoming scenes and taught me some vital lessons that will help me avoid the pitfalls in the future.
But Peeping Thom is not resting on its laurels. I have ambitious plans for the future, with a slate of exciting new projects already in preproduction. My aim is to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in VR porn, but changing direction slightly, to concentrate on the, narrative style clips whilst exploring new ways to tell adult stories.
As we look back on the company’s first two years in business, we can’t help but be excited for what the future holds. Happy birthday to Peeping Thom, and here’s to many more years of, immersive virtual reality porn!
